If comfort food and good vibes ever had a rowdy little love child, its name would be Hoot Nannie. From the moment we walked in, it felt like stepping straight into the coziest Southern restaurant/bar if that grandma also had a killer playlist, a sassy sense of humor, and a talent for feeding people until they’re blissfully immobile. The food? Spectacular. Every plate that came out looked like it had been handcrafted by angels who apprenticed in a BBQ smokehouse. The portions were the perfect mix of generous and “you’re definitely taking leftovers home and happily eating them cold at midnight.” And the flavors? Mercy. One bite in and you’re suddenly questioning why you ever wasted calories anywhere else. The staff deserves special mention (Jada) friendly, hilarious, and quicker than a hummingbird after a double espresso. They made the whole meal feel like a celebration, even though all we celebrated was how fast we could inhale dinner. Whether you’re craving hearty home cooking, a place to laugh with friends, or just a restaurant with a name that’s as fun to say as it is to eat at, Hoot Nannie absolutely delivers. Five stars, two thumbs up, and one very happy, very full customer.

The Hoot Nannie in Forest City, NC is truly one of the best family spots around. It’s the kind of place that makes you proud to have a local restaurant like this in our community. From the moment you walk in, the décor catches your eye—warm, inviting, and absolutely beautiful. It sets the tone for a meal that feels comfortable and welcoming. The menu has something for everyone. Whether you’re craving a good steak, a juicy burger, something from the seafood side, or a solid kids’ meal, they’ve got it covered. Everything comes out fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Portion sizes are just right, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere is even better than the décor—relaxed, friendly, and perfect for sitting down with family after a long day. The staff are always kind, attentive, and genuinely make you feel like a neighbor, not just a customer. Prices can be a little on the higher side, but the quality of the food and the overall experience make it worth every penny. Good food is worth paying for, especially when it’s served in a place that feels this welcoming. The Hoot Nannie is a true Forest City gem, and it’s absolutely a place I’ll keep coming back to with my family.

I recently went to The Hoot Nannie with my girlfriend and we had a really good experience overall. We started with the cheese bites, and those were a great pick. Crispy on the outside with perfectly melted cheese inside. For our meals, I got the sirloin steak and she ordered the Dirty Sanchez burger. Both came out just how we were hoping. The steak was a bit thinner than what you’d usually get at a typical steakhouse, but the flavor and the sear on it honestly made up for that. It still ended up being really enjoyable. Her burger was just as solid and she was really happy with it. I had a salad and okra on the side, and everything on my plate was on point. She got the homemade chips with her meal and kept talking about how good they were, so that’s definitely worth trying. I also had a couple of beers since they were running a $3 draft special, which was a nice bonus. The wait was a little on the longer side, but they actually called us in earlier than expected. It worked out perfectly because it gave us just enough time to walk around and check out downtown Forest City before heading back. Overall, really solid spot. Good food, good value, and a great experience. I’d definitely come back.

We walked in and ordered, while ordering the cook came out and 86'd the prime rib, only reason we drove 45 minutes. Bartender who was taking our order made it right along with the lady outback. The gentleman gave up his for us because being our first time. For his kind gesture we picked up his bill for the evening btw.......one good deed deserves another. From that point forward it was a top 3 experience of new places to feast. Mackenzie was great the whole staff and place just amazing, very accommodating even the patrons!! If your ever in the area or just rolling through check.it out you wont be disappointed!! Piece of advise get there early for the prime rib, we lucked out and am so grateful. See yall soon!!!

I stopped in for lunch while visiting since my usual spot was full and boy am I glad I did. Julie was so friendly and accommodating at the bar. The smoked wings were melt in your mouth good. I also had the Hamburger steak meal with Mac & cheese and green beans. Everything was made hot to order and my mouth was watering before my plate hit the counter. The portions were large and the wings were GIANT. The only thing I wish they'd change is being open Monday and Tuesday because that's when I'm in town visiting every few weeks. I love it and Ill be back!

Always enjoyed hanging in that place after work and on weekends. Specials of the day are awesome! And not to mention draught beers are cheap, can't beat that. Salute to the bartenders Juli, MacKinzie and the rest of the crew. Till next time. Cheers!
